Vice President of Operations Michelle Reyes suggests first considering the type of event you’re having or a specific need and length of time you’d require a tent.
“For something like a backyard BBQ, graduation party, family reunion or a company gathering, we’d recommend a frame tent,” she explained. “Weddings usually call for a sailcloth or structure tent; and structure tents also work very well for sporting events or long-term storage needs.”
She added, “Illusions has such a great variety of structure options, including double and triple-decker tents. These provide open or relatively unobstructed space and extremely stable construction that make them ideal for large events.”
“Our multi-level tents are real showstoppers! These are perfect for events where guests benefit from an expanded viewing area at things like auto races, golf tournaments, and much more.”
Illusions follows some basic formulas for determining the size of an event tent. Michelle explained, “For a cocktail party or standing reception, 6 sq. ft per person is ample. If you’re having a seated dinner, then we’d recommend roughly 10 – 12 sq. ft. per person so there’s adequate room for guests to move around. If the plan calls for row or cathedral seating, then 6 sq. ft. per person is a good option.
She added, “Note that these are industry standards and may vary based on layout or other items a client wants to incorporate in the tent design. But that’s why it’s best to work with our tent specialists to make sure your event needs are covered – literally!”
