Fresh Ideas in Florals, from the Big Day to a Big Event!

When we need expert insight about the latest looks for spring and summer flowers, we know exactly who to ask – Oscar De Los Santos! He’s been leading the amazing Flair Floral designers and décor team for several years and is our resident botanical go-to for what’s hot and what’s cool this (and every) season.

“Probably the #1 requested trend for dinner parties and weddings that we see is the ‘Flemish Style’ design. This mixes fresh garden flowers, from peonies to blooming chocolate lace, in an asymmetrical styling that is very pleasing and still balanced overall to the eyes,” he reported. “There’s also been a shift from more natural design settings to natural design settings that have a really interesting artistic twist.”

Is there anything different this season for weddings and what goes into designing specifically for these events?

Oscar explained, “Part of our consultation process with the bride and groom is when I find out what styling THEY would love to see with the wedding. Whether it’s something very new or very classic, specific colors, etc.”

“Most people keep photos on their phones of what they have been envisioning for a very long time. So we use these and other considerations to design something that is truly unique just for them and their big day. And because we have access to flower farms and growers literally around the world, we really can get anything we need.”

As for some of the top things to consider in choosing floral pieces or bridal and bridesmaid bouquets, Oscar recommended, “Ambience is key, for the ceremony and reception venue; flower availability; and budget. If a certain type of more exotic flower is cost prohibitive, for example, then we will do our best to match its color in another flower that fits their budget.”

Finally, we wanted to hear more about choosing flowers for functions like galas or corporate events.

“Galas that happen annually usually call for a completely different look from the previous year. This is a lot of fun for us, we love coming up with new looks using different colors and flower types, while also incorporating any appropriate themes.

“We do a lot of corporate events and award ceremonies in and outside of Texas, and we often incorporate a client’s logo into the centerpieces and other décor as well,” Oscar added. “Really, whatever it takes to make our clients happy and make the event more memorable and beautiful, that’s what we’ll do. It’s just the Flair Floral way!”

It’s always best to order floral arrangements with as much lead time as possible to allow for transit that may be originating across the country or overseas.
